Fashion Week Panama has strong ties with the neighborhoods of Casco Viejo and Santa Ana. This event was one of the few events in Panama City that continued throughout the pandemic. The 2021 version of Fashion Week Panama was celebrated in the La Manzana building in Santa Ana. It was done in a hybrid fashion with limited spaces and online presentations during the six days of the event. Only the media and special guests could see the runways, while the general exhibit area and fair was open to the public.
The 2022 version of Fashion Week Panama was done in a regular fashion with two locations: the American Trade Hotel (stay at the American Trade Hotel) and La Manzana building. Walkways were held by local and international designers, as well as fashion films and conferences about the fashion industry. La Manzana building had a fashion market where entrepreneurs and designers could sell their pieces to the general public.
Fashion Week Panama 2023
The 2023 version of Panama’s Fashion Week will be held from Tuesday 19 to Sunday 24 of September.
The launch of the event was done in the Maria Bombon restaurant in Costa del Este with a gathering of fashionistas, media and designers. This event is organized by Physical Modeling agency.
Alessandra Bueno, one of the organizers, mentioned that this year the event will be done in the new District Fashion Design in Santa Ana. This building used to be the former French Bazar that opened in 1935, just before the Second World War. It was where the high society of Panama went shopping.
The second venue of the event will continue to be the American Trade Hotel in Casco Viejo. The hall of this hotel has been used in several prior versions of Fashion Week Panama which has been held for over two decades. Originally, this fashion week used to be in the Atlapa Convention Center and then it switched over to Casco Viejo.
Agenda for 2023
Fashion Talks will be held Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 of September. These talks will be open to the public which attends Panama’s Fashion Week without additional costs. Students are allowed to go to these talks for free and they will have special rates to go to the fashion shows and general events.
Other items on the fashion agenda include The Bar Experience, Fashion Market and exhibits which will promote local creatives and artists. The prestigious Marangoni Institute will offer a professional industry scholarship in their campus in Miami, Florida.
Some of the fashion designers that will be participating in Fashion Week Panama 2023 include: San Maló, Valar, Veronica Angel, VLCK, Pilar Sainz, Olga Sinclair, Breebaart, Grau X House of Clio, La Brise Label, Clarissa Rosania and Porta Romana, EG by Edda Gonzalez, John Bejarano, Lidia Minota, De Oliveira Design, Mona by Natalia Molto, and Zunilda Gutierrez. Toribio and Donato from Costa Rica and Julia and Renata from Mexico are the international designers invited this year.
Tickets for Fashion Week Panama 2023 can be purchased online in Panatickets.com. Shows are in the evening of the 19, 20 and 21 of September starting from 5:15 to 8:15 p.m. Some of the fashion shows will donate funds to FANLYC. Every day there is also a cocktail.
