La Granja Campo y Aventura is a great day trip from Panama City. It is located in the province of Colon, only 35 minutes from Panama if taking the highway. Enter through the San Judas Tadeo neighborhood and take the route to La Represa.
How you spend your day is up to your preferences. This farm is a great agro tourism destination in Panama. Their agro tour allows visitors to interact and learn about the species that live in this farm. It takes about 45 minutes to a bit over an hour to visit the farm. The poultry section has ducks, geese, backyard chickens, laying chickens, and other types of non-commercial chickens. They also have more common bovines such as sheep and goats, horses, pigs, and rabbits. The water buffalo will surely steal the show, these animals were introduced in Panama as a gift to general Omar Torrijos.
Visiting the farm also gives you access to the butterfly house where you will be able to see the complete life cycle of Panama’s butterflies. These beautiful creatures have complete metamorphosis, that is, they have four stages to complete their life cycles, “egg, larva, pupa and adult”. If you are lucky you may even have some land on you. Both of these activities are suitable for people of all ages.
Another activity you can do in La Granja Campo y Aventura is a horseback ride. Please note they only have five horses available, so bigger groups will have to divide their horseback riding time. This tour takes about 30 minutes and it’s guided for safety. Children that don’t know how to ride a horse can lead by a guide. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of this farm which has plenty of flora and fauna including birds, iguanas, monkeys and sloths.
La Granja Campo y Aventura has the longest canopy zipline in Panama with 800 meters! This canopy zipline has five lines that will take you through incredible scenery. Two lines actually pass over Lake Gatun. Ziplining is full of adrenaline while you rush through the heights. Guides are fully trained and the farm has all the certifications and safety equipment necessary for this activity.

Explore Lake Gatun on a kayak at your own pace. This activity allows you to spend time outdoors and connect with nature while you do some physical activity. Lake Gatun has calm waters so it is not necessary to be in excellent physical conditions. Participants can be guided and are required to wear life jackets even if they can swim. There are individual and double kayaks available. If you don’t want to paddle you can also take a boat tour through Lake Gatun for 30 minutes. In this tour you will be able to see the local flora including heliconias, orchids, and fruit trees, as well as fauna such as monkeys, iguanas, sloths and birds.
The extreme park at La Granja Campo y Aventura has 12 hanging bridges divided in two sections. The first six are quite easy, while the next six are more difficult. These are Tibetan bridges which are done with a safety harness and a line that is suspended from a cable to protect you from a fall.
Play a game of paintball in this field with natural spaces and barricades simulating a military training area with great natural beauties around. Your mission is to capture the enemy’s flag. Come with your friends or family to participate in this activity full of fun, adrenaline and strategy.

What to bring? Comfortable clothes, change of clothes (depending on activities), flip flops or closed toe shoes (depending on activities), rain jacket or waterproof bag (green season), sunscreen, hat, ID, water bottle and camera.
Important information: la Granja Campo y Aventura is open daily from Monday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Those who want to do activities should arrive before 2 p.m. to have time. This place also has a hostel with twelve rooms, a restaurant and a pool. Please contact us if you would like to spend the night to arrange your reservations.
To ride horses you must weigh less than 200 pounds and be free of lumbar and cardiac problems. For the canopy zipline tour participants must weigh less than 220 pounds. It is not suitable for pregnant women or people with lumbar or cardiac problems. The same applies for the extreme park, where there is also a minimum height of 1.20 centimeters required for participation.
There is a five person minimum for the boat ride. However, other tourists may join your boat if available during that day. Paintball includes 200 balls per participant. Additional bag with 500 balls has a cost of $25. Players will be given face masks and vests for their protection. To play paintball it is necessary to have long pants.
