Description
The rum blending workshop is a unique experience you can enjoy during your vacation in Panama City. You’ll be welcomed with a cocktail before we begin. An expert instructor will guide you through the rum-making process, helping you become a master blender at Casa Barú.
This experience goes beyond a simple tasting; you’ll actively participate and master the art of rum making. You’ll learn about flavor profiles and aromatic notes as you design and blend your own personalized recipe, perfectly tailored to your palate. Once your blend is ready, you can bottle it in a flask or bottle. Participating in the rum blending workshop will allow you to take home a unique souvenir of Panama.
Casa Barú was born in the province of Chiriquí, Panama. Its goal was to create a Panamanian rum that prioritizes authenticity and character over mass production. This rum producer selects the finest raw materials, including artisanal sugarcane syrup produced by small, independent farms in the highlands of Chiriquí. This province boasts volcanic soil, which also produces some of Panama’s finest coffee, and mountain rainfall. This creates a distinctive, fruity, and complex flavor profile, noticeably different from industrial rums made with molasses.
This artisanal Panamanian rum is distilled twice in copper pot stills, preserving its complex fermentation character. The rums are aged in barrels that previously held bourbon and then in specialty casks, such as those used for rye, sherry, and cognac. Participants in the rum blending workshop will learn about this process and the Casa Barú brand.
