Description
In the Hurtado district of La Chorrera there is a farm dedicated to pineapple production that does a Pineapple Farm Tour in Panama. The variety they cultivate is M2 Golden, which was brought from Costa Rica at the owners’ suggestion. This seed produces pineapples with an average Brix level (sweetness index) of 14, a value sought after in international markets. Growing these sweet pineapples has allowed Panama to become an exporting country, reaching exotic destinations such as the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, the United States, Turkey, Dubai, and South Korea.
This farm has 133 hectares under traditional cultivation, but using modern methods with a drip irrigation system. An area that has been fallow for more than five years has been designated for organic farming. A spring with natural water features is being developed for visitors. During your visit you will learn all about growing and harvesting pineapples, as you become a farmer for the day! You will also pass through the fruit orchards, which include passion fruit, star fruit, dragon fruit, soursop, lemons, guavas, papayas, yucca, and other crops.

Important information: please contact us prior to booking, as the price of the Pineapple Farm Tour varies greatly depending on the number of people participating. If possible we will include you with another group. Children under 7 years are free of charge and children 8 to 12 pay half price. Smaller reservations will be taken around the farm in a pickup truck instead of the carriage pulled by a tractor. This tour does not include transport to and from Panama City, which can be arranged for an additional fee.
